The Garmin GMR Fantom 54 Radar with 4’ Open Array (K10-00012-17) is a 4’, 50W solid-state open-array radar with pedestal. High-Power 50W Radar with Narrow Beam

Get excellent close- and long-range detection from as close as 20’ out to 72 nautical miles, even in fog or rain. The narrow horizontal beamwidth produces a high-resolution image, and high antenna gain picks out weak targets at a distance, painting a clear picture of the shoreline, other vessels and approaching weather right on your Garmin chartplotter. You get consistent target positions, excellent separation between large and small targets, and adjustable rotation speed for fast screen updates.

MotionScope Doppler Technology

GMR Fantom uses the Doppler effect, the frequency shift in a radar echo caused by a target's relative motion, to instantly detect anything moving toward or away from the radar. MotionScope highlights those targets on screen so you can steer around other boats or severe weather, or head toward fishing spots where birds are feeding at the surface.

Radar Features

• Echo trails: a fading trail on screen helps you identify moving targets and potential collision threats; trails are corrected for your boat's rotation when an autopilot or heading sensor is on your Garmin network
• Auto Bird Gain: where birds are on the surface, fish are below; this helps you find flocks of birds where baitfish are likely
• Dynamic auto gain and sea filter: auto gain adjusts to your surroundings for optimal performance, and the sea filter adjusts to changing sea conditions with low, medium or high filtering options
• Target size: enlarge targets to separate them from noise, or reduce them to sharpen shoreline detail
• Dual range with radar overlay: one antenna shows side-by-side images with independent range settings and controls for close and long range, and either or both can be overlaid on the chart (autopilot or heading sensor recommended for best results)
• MARPA target tracking: tracks up to 10 selected targets to help you keep track of other vessels and avoid collisions
• Dual radar support: redundancy, with each display able to choose data from 1 of 2 radar sources
• Guard zone: set a safety zone and get an alarm when an object enters it
• Easy interpretation: variable range markers (VRM) and electronic bearing lines (EBL) give quick distance and bearing measurements, and the selected range fits the vertical size of your display to show more forward-looking returns
